Course Description of Medicine in English programme

The university website describes this as a one of a kind course which we do strongly agree with, as not a lot of universities do an engineering oriented approach to Medicine. Graduates from this course will be specialised in handling new medical technologies and creating patient-tailored therapy. The students of this course will be taught biomedical engineering skills, which will prepare them for developing new innovative solutions in clinical fields. Graduates of this course can be granted a masters in Biomedical Engineering for an additional 30 credits (Traditional 6 year Italian Medical Schools require 360 credits in total), perform research work, or work in industrial fields, while having all the qualifications of a Doctor of Medicine.

Unique opportunity by Marche Politecnica

The proposed course by Marche is an interesting blend of Medicine and Surgery as well as Biomedical engineering. The course integration should still last 6 years, with the additional 30 credits being achieved through a higher number of preclinical classes during the first 3 years. The preclinical years will be aimed at fostering the integration between the medical and bioengineering disciplines, while the last 3 years will be mainly dedicated to clinical training, with the possibility to use integrated approaches learned during the prior 3 years.

So in summary students of the new Medicine and Technology course will be taught the basics of biomedical engineering through the acquisition of 30 additional educational credits in addition to the regular 360 educational credits for Medicine and Surgery degrees in Italy, which allows graduate students to request an additional Biomedical Engineering degree.

Potential Career Choices for Medical Graduates

According to the official university course page the graduates of this course can work in the following settings:

  • Hospitals and specialist centres
  • Universities and research centres
  • National and international health organizations
  • Pharmaceutical companies and in biomedical fields
  • Health services management
  • Access to Postgraduate Schools in medical areas

Some interesting activities in Ancona for University Students

While the city of Ancona can be considered quite small lacking some of the excitement of the much bigger cities, Marche region is absolutely beautiful with fun activities for students who love the outdoors. Not to mention they are a beach region which makes it an ideal location to be able to take relaxing beach breaks from your exams without having to travel!

There are many regions to hike such as in the reserve beside both Ancona and Pesaro (a city 1 hour away from Ancona). To the western side of Marche you will find beautiful areas to explore such as the temple of Valadier, where you can also go rock climbin, and visit the grottos nearby. Ancona itself is situated right beside a large natural reserve called the “Parco Regionale  del Conero” with pristine protected beaches that pictures would not do justice do. San Marino is only 3 hours away with public transport, and Ancona is very well connected to Bologna and Rome.

  1. What is their scholarship facility? Which region of Italy does Ancona lie in ? When will the finalize the English course?

  2. Does Marche university offer fully funded scholarship for medicine and surgery to non EU students and is it possible to pre enroll now?? Plz reply as soon as possible.

    1. You need to apply to the regional body for the scholarship, and it’s not guaranteed. It will depend on your family income, and how many students above you also need it. It’s based on a needs based ranking.

  3. Dear Admissions Team,

I recently sat for the IMAT, and received the results as of yesterday 10.10.2024.
At this point I am not clear if I should wait for the selected Universities to get in contact with me, or if additional formalities are required, such as subscription to the University portal.

Please note that I am an Italian national with a highschool diploma from The International School of Choueifat, obtained in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), and I wish to apply for the course of Medicine and Surgery in English.

Thank you for treating the matter as urgent, and get in contact with me at the earliest.

    Best regards,
    Michelle Cacciatore

    1. Hello, if you have scored high enough for a seat, you must enroll as soon as possible. Each university has its own unique procedure. Not all unis send emails of seats on time, so please refer to the medicine in English bandos and enrollment procedures on each uni’s site. Often, this involves making a university account, uploading identity and educational documents, and paying the first installment fee. Best of luck with all your future endeavors!
