Frequently Asked Questions

To host a large group, we reached out to venues in multiple cities that could provide everything we need, like desks, chairs, projectors, and more. On average, the quotes we received were between €1,500 and €2,000 per day.

Additionally, we’re hiring medical students to help run the event, and we’re committed to paying them a fair wage (well over €15/hour). There’s also the significant cost of printing all the notes, exams, and other materials. Plus, we need to cover the travel and accommodation expenses for the team heading to these locations.

This price is designed to hopefully break even since it’s our first time organising something on this scale. In fact, the team isn’t even being paid for the countless hours that went into planning and creating all the materials—we’re doing this purely because we believe in the value of the event.

Italy was a natural choice for at least one event, as it’s where all students hope to end up. With 2025 being the Jubilee year—a major Vatican City event—Italy, especially Rome, is expecting a massive surge in tourism. We wanted to choose a city with an English medical school that wasn’t overly touristy, so students could avoid high travel and accommodation costs, but that was still large enough to offer plenty of affordable options for a one-week stay. Ease of access via a nearby airport was another key factor. After weighing all these considerations, Turin and Padova stood out as great choices. Ultimately, we chose Turin for its larger size and wider range of affordable hostel options, ensuring a more convenient and budget-friendly experience for students.

Turkey emerged as an excellent second location after we analyzed our website and YouTube analytics, which showed it as our largest demographic. Plus, with Serra being half Turkish and fluent in the language, it made sense to choose Turkey for our out-of-Italy week. Among potential cities like Izmir, Ankara, and Istanbul—all of which had test centers this year—we chose Ankara. It’s less touristy and offered the lowest accommodation costs while still being a vibrant and accessible city.

We know we have many students in other countries too, but since this is our first time hosting a project of this scale, we wanted to focus on locations we’re most familiar with and that were logistically feasible. This way, we can ensure the best possible experience for everyone attending.

Chemistry, Physics & Mathematics:

These subjects will be taught by San Kwon, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Biology and Pharmacology. San achieved a top 0.5% score of 63.8 on the 2023 IMAT — before the 2024 point inflation. Beyond his academic achievements, San brings a wealth of teaching experience, having worked as a university teaching assistant, taekwondo instructor, and private IMAT, SAT, and AP tutor for 6 years.

Biology and Logical Reasoning:

These sections will be taught by Serra, a graduate of La Sapienza IMS, whose medical education has provided her with an excellent foundation in Biology—especially Anatomy and Physiology. Serra’s expertise extends to Logical Reasoning, in which she scored full marks in the 2016 IMAT, back when it accounted for 36% of the overall exam. She also placed in the top 1% of Ireland’s HPAT, an exam focused entirely on Logical Reasoning-style questions.

We’re currently working on a self-paced online IMAT course that we aim to finalise by early spring 2025. Our goal is to make it the best and most affordable dedicated course available for the IMAT, which is why we’re taking the time to ensure it’s done right.

As for this event, it won’t have an online version. We’re focusing on creating a unique, in-person experience with a fun and engaging atmosphere that can’t be replicated virtually. Think of it like the difference between listening to a song on Spotify and going to a live concert—it’s all about the energy, connections, and memorable moments that come from being there in person!

We wanted to give students the flexibility to set their own budgets, rather than choosing a location that might work best for us but increase costs for you. That said, depending on the number of sign-ups, it’s possible we might be able to include lunch—but for now, we don’t want to make any promises!

We’ll need to close bookings by the end of January to ensure we have enough time to secure the venues and arrange all the necessary rentals well in advance.

If the IMAT gets cancelled, we will still hold the bootcamp but instead of shift the focus from high yield IMAT topics, to the most important foundations for the 1st semester of medical school. Of course students are more than welcome to ask for a full refund instead which we will happily do!
